Albert Franklin “Frank” Baird, Jr., 73, of Dillwyn, died January 1, 2018 in Charlottesville.  He was born September 8, 1944, a son of the late Albert Franklin Baird, Sr. and Jessie Fitzgerald Baird.  Frank was a retired employee of Kyanite Mining Corporation.  Frank loved the Lord and was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church.  He enjoyed farming and he loved any time that he could spend with his grandson “B”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mildred Bernice Bryan Baird; son, Franklin Brian Baird and his wife, Loretta Lynn;  grandson, Brian Keith Baird and his girlfriend, Sydney Johnson; Step-grandson, Lewis Winslett; Sister Margaret B. Yates and her husband, Charles; brother, William Eldridge “Pete” Baird and his wife, Julia; three nephews, Bob Hanes and his wife, Kim, Michael Baird and his wife, Ashley and Kevin Baird; niece, Jennifer Dunkum and her husband, Brad; two great-nieces, Alyssa Dunkum and Bryleigh Baird; two great-nephews, Jackson and Noah Hanes and many friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
