Wayne Russell O'Bryant, 66, of Henrico, passed away unexpectedly in a tragic car accident on Saturday, May 9th, 2020. He was born on January 14th, 1954. He is preceded in death by his father, Russell "Boo" O'Bryant. He is survived by his mother, Margie S. O'Bryant. He leaves behind his daughter Liberty Reyes (Anthony), his sister Kathy "Bonkers" O'Bryant, and his two brothers Steve O'Bryant (Helen) and Gary O'Bryant (Mary Sue); two grandchildren, Cadence and Samara; six nieces and nephews, Matthew, Jessica, Chase, Austin, Carter, and Savanna; also many close cousins and his devoted friend, Angie. Wayne was a retired electrician for over 40 years. He will be remembered for his “rock and roll spirit” and his passion for music. He was a profound figure in the Richmond music scene in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Wayne was a member/lead singer of several Richmond area bands including Slip Mahony and The Misfits, Bijou, and Nine Mile Stand. Several of his band members remember Wayne as a “great front man” and “Mr. Wonderful,” and he was legendary for channeling Mick Jagger during his performances. It was also well-known that when his sister attended his shows, he would serenade her with the song, “Little Sister.” Wayne was one of a kind and was a loving friend to have. He never met a stranger and always saw the good in others. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. As Wayne would say, “the show must go on.” “The song has ended, but the melody lingers on...” ~Irving Berlin
