Ted Waycaster

Ted Waycaster, 90, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2025.

Ted proudly served in the U.S. Army, but his true passion was turning wrenches and building machines. A gifted mechanic, Ted spent countless hours in the garage, often with a smile on his face and grease on his hands. He especially loved building and tuning race cars—his own proudly carried the number 15A. If it had a motor, Ted could fix it, and he was always happiest under the hood.

He is survived by his beloved, Ruth Waycaster; his daughter, Deborah Covington (Joe); his stepdaughter, Teresa Fowler (Bert); and his grandchildren Josh Covington and Jamie Covington—all of whom he was deeply proud of.

To honor and celebrate his life, a graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Jones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his strong work ethic, and the way he could make an engine hum like new.
