Suzanne Kennon, 74 of Cartersville, VA, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on 12/8/2024. Suzanne Steinmeier was born on May 11, 1950 in Portsmouth, VA, where she attended Chuchland High School. Later in her adulthood, after overcoming many hardships, Suzanne was the first woman in VA to earn her Bachelor's degree while incarcerated. Following her release, Sue dedicated herself to giving back somehow to her children. Suzanne became a beacon of hope and resilience through her tireless effort to rebuild her life. She continued her education, receiving her Masters Degree from VCU and began a Parenting Program at VCCW, and eventually all VADOC facilities.
Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Eloise Steinmeier, her husband, Charles R. Kennon VI, and Chris Boyette, the father of her two sons. Sue's legacy includes her advocacy for second chances and her compassion for the underprivileged. Suzanne is survived by her three children Beverley Kennon Payne, and two sons, Chip and Adam Boyette. She will be remembered by her many friends and co-workers who admired her for her courage and tenacity. A celebration of her life will be held at her home on Saturday January 25 at 11:00am.
