Robert “Bob” Beers passed away unexpectedly at home on July 6th 2026, due to heart complications. Born on December 17, 1948, in Hartford, Connecticut. Bob was the oldest son of the late Roy and Doris Beers, and big brother to his surviving siblings Judy Wilson (Ernie) of Kingsland, GA, Dick Beers (Diane) of St. Mary’s Ga, Barbara Almeida-Beers (Robert) of Little Compton, RI, and Carolyn Roy (Leo) of Southport, NC. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.
Bob was a gifted athlete at Exeter High School, graduating in 1966 after playing football, baseball, and track and field. He served in the Air National Guard for six years during the Vietnam War. He built a rewarding career in the restaurant industry before transitioning to a retirement role that brought him immense joy: driving a school bus for Powhatan and Cumberland Counties. Affectionately nicknamed "Mr. Bob" by the children, his gentle spirit and quick wit brightened their days.
He is survived by his ex-wife Jane McGinnis and their children: Jenny Francis (Charlie), Jessica Smith (TJ), Dana Beers (Beth), and Victoria Boeger (Steve). His legacy lives on through his eight grandchildren; Matthew Croxton (Nichole),Trevor Beers, Ian Beers-Jones, Peyton Francis, Will Bennett, Leah Boeger, Hudson “Huck” and Zane Beers and two great-grandchildren Acelynn and Jackson Croxton.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Amy Jane Beers. Amy was the quiet center of Bob's heart, and her untimely passing was a profound loss from which he never truly recovered. The family takes comfort in knowing that Bob and Amy are finally reunited in peace.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at PACE for their dedicated care.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert’s memory to either the American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/en/get-involved/ways-to-give), to support heart health research or to the Best Friends Animal Society (https://bestfriends.org/) to honor his profound love for animals. Please choose whichever cause speaks most closely to your heart.
