Richard Wootten Obituary

Richard Marshall Wootten, age 59, passed away at his home on March 26, 2025.  He was born in Richmond, VA and moved to Buckingham when he was 7 years old.  He loved hunting, fishing, and watching Westerns.  He also loved dogs and had a wonderful canine companion, Baby Boy.  He was a member of Arvonia Methodist Church.  

He moved to Richmond to work and sold big equipment.  He also ran his own landscaping business and made many friends taking care of lawns, cemeteries, and businesses.   His favorite place was the Eastern Shore of Virginia and he made many memories there with his family and friends.   

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Overton and Caroline LeSueur; David and Laura Fleming Wootten; and his father, Clayton Perkins Wootten.  

He is survived by his mother Winifred Wootten Brown and his sons David (Amy), Johnathon “JC” (Casey), and Travis (Kasey); and daughter Christina Reece (Jeremiah).  He had 7 grandchildren, Jacob, Brittany, Johnathon “JR”, Linda Mae, Hunter, Briar, and Seth.  He is also survived by a sister, Pennie Allen and her husband Monte. He had a special friend in Levi Midkiff. 

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at Browns Chapel in Dillwyn, with a service to follow at 3 p.m.
