Richard Michael Bersch

Richard “Michael” Bersch, 39, of Buckingham, went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, March 13, 2025. He was born on March 20, 1985, to Richard F. and Barbara W. Bersch. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin B. and Erecelle T. Bersch, and Floyd N. and Margaret S. Word, as well as his father-in-law, Gordon Goolsby.

Michael is survived by his wife, Samantha, of five years, and his stepson, Dawson “Monkey” Bailey. He is also survived by his father, Richard, and his mother, Barbara, along with his mother-in-law, Susan W. Goolsby and father-in-law Teddy Davis.

Michael was a carpenter and often described himself as a jack of all trades, master of none. Growing up, he enjoyed racing four-wheelers and playing baseball. He cherished working on the farm with his dad, especially when it came to getting up hay bales with his mom. Michael loved spending time with his wife and watching his stepson play ball. With a heart of gold, he was always there for those in need. Not only was he a wonderful son, husband, and stepdad, but he was also a cherished friend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Bethlehem Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
