Rebecca Marion Fields, age 72 of Powhatan, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Fondly known by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as Bek-Bek, she was born on October 10, 1953, in Amory, Mississippi, to the late Robert and Mary Jeane Marion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Edwin Douglas Fields Sr., and her children, Lisa and Cary D’Haillecourt.
She is survived by her children, Becky Shumaker Mahone (Mike), Eddie Fields, Timmy Fields, Teri Dizon, Richard English, and Danny Dandridge (Lisa), grandchildren, Brandon and Maddie Shumaker, Kaitlin and Chad Woodson, Zack and Ryan Mahone, Abby Lovejoy, Kenley and Chase Bryant, Kiley Fields, Trey Fields, Hadley and Allen Swift, Harris Cole, Michael Fields, Hunter Wood, Savannah Dizon (Gage), great-grandchildren, William and Sutton Shumaker, Brandt Woodson, Vander Mahone, Octavia and Ryder Bryant, Mallie and Macie Swift, Halen Nottenkamper, and two new great-grand babies due in September and December; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Connie Marion of Tupelo Mississippi; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Tony Crvich of Smith Mountain Lake, brother in law and sister-in-Law, Richard and Teresa Fields of Powhatan, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Bek-Bek will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was a strong-willed, determined woman who was selfless and enjoyed serving others. She took pride in working with the girls at Oak Hill Academy when she moved to Virginia in 1985. After moving to Powhatan, she enjoyed being a school bus driver and taking the grandkids on the school bus with her. She also enjoyed the annual family vacations at the beach, trips to visit Robert and Connie, and her nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and nephews in Mississippi and Louisiana.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the exceptional care received from the staff at Hospice of Virginia, especially her Nurse Kelly Johnston.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn. Interment will be held at a later date in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
