Paul Wayne Stewart
January 26, 1942 – May 4, 2026
Paul Stewart, 84, of Buckingham, VA passed away on May 4, 2026 after a brief illness.
Born on January 26, 1942, in Richmond, VA, Paul lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family
and service.
Paul proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and later the
Virginia Air National Guard. His dedication to duty and love for his nation were
hallmarks of his character. Beyond his military service, Paul was a man of many talents
and passions. He found joy in playing the guitar, singing, songwriting and writing. A
voracious reader and a man who cherished working on his property, Paul embraced life
with creativity and purpose.
A devoted Christian, Paul’s faith was central to his life. He was deeply committed to his
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived as an example of love and devotion to those
around him. His spirituality guided him in all aspects of his life and was a source of
strength for both himself and those who knew him.
Paul was a loving husband to Sally Anne Stewart; a proud father to Zachary Stewart (Heidi)
and Matthew Stewart (Berenice); and a cherished grandfather to Harrison Stewart,
Prescott Stewart, Isabella Stewart, and Lani Carwile Stewart. He is survived by his sister
Betty Altman as well as many nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents
Oliver and Bessie Stewart; siblings Gene Friedline, Doris Bohr and Curtis Stewart.
Paul’s legacy is one of love, faith, creativity, and dedication. His memory will live on in the
hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
