Paul Lowell Smith

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021 God’s winds whispered and Paul answered the call to come to that heavenly garden.

Paul Lowell Smith, of New Canton, was born August 23, 1948, the tenth child of the late Myrtle and Eugene Smith, Paul was the youngest.  Paul was a retiree of 30 years with Philip Morris, in Richmond. His work ethic was impeccable.  He made many lifetime friends.

Paul loved to work in the yard, plant flowers and raised a tremendous garden. He especially loved the mischief of his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Left to cherish precious memories are his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Gunter Smith; four children, Julie Smith-Baird (Chucky), Paul “Chip” Smith (Renee), Victoria Smith-Shumaker (Ricky) and Jonathan Smith (Heather); 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, E. N. “Nick” Smith of Buckingham and Billy F. Smith of New Canton and many nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister and six brothers.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Buckingham Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 3 until 7 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home. Masks are required.
