Patrick “Pat” Hoffman, of Buckingham, Virginia, passed away on August 20th after a lengthy battle with kidney disease, he was 72 years old.
Pat was born to Clarice and Al Hoffman in Bowling Green, Ohio on January 27, 1953. He graduated from Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida in 1971 and went on to have an extensive career, first in the Printed Circuit Board industry during its heyday in the 70’s and 80’s and later in real estate. In 1996, he and Ellen moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Buckingham where he became one of the county’s most trusted realtors for nearly 30 years.
He met Ellen Hall, his childhood sweetheart, at the Eau Gallie “Roller City” Skating rink in 1967. He is famous for having told his mother at the age of 14 – “Mom, I met the girl I’m going to marry.” True to his word, Pat and Ellen married in 1972 and had two children, Stephanie and Barrett.
Pat never really retired from the realtor work he loved; in fact, he renewed his Virginia real estate license this past May. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler around the Buckingham homestead and watching the Miami Dolphins play football every season for more than 50 years.
Pat always had a joke or a kind word for everyone he met and was well known for his knowledge of the Virginia countryside and properties for sale. His motto for real estate was “UMatter,” and he felt that everyone deserved to own their own home.
Pat was predeceased by his parents and his older sister Sandy. Pat is survived by his bride of 53 years, Ellen; his two wonderful children, Stephanie (Matt) Sylvester and Barrett (Christine) Hoffman, three Grandchildren, Mason, Haylee, and Bryson Sylvester, a step-Granddaughter, Cecily Sylvester, and three Great Grandchildren, Avonte, Milo, and Laniyah.
Funeral services for Pat will be held on September 27, 2025, at 1pm at the Worsham Baptist Church, 6708 Farmville Road, Farmville, VA 23901. Funeral services will be followed by a gathering in the church fellowship hall. All are welcome.
