Michelle (Kapity) Yoder

Michelle (Simons) Yoder (nee Kapity) passed away in the early morning hours of May 20, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mildred (Kozobarich) Kapity, her brother, Steven Kapity, and her former husbands, Robert Simons and Allen Yoder. She was 83 years old.

She is survived by her brother, Gary (Lynne) Kapity and sister, Janel (Doug) Johnson; her children, Jeffery (Kimberly) Simons (aka J. R. Simons), Christopher (Kim N.) Simons, and Kathleen Simons; stepchildren, Rachel (Jeff) Bird, Michael Yoder, and LaRoy (Rebecca) Yoder; grandchildren, Kelsey (Taylor) Simons, William (Brooke) Simons, Hayley Simons, Krysia Simons, Collin Simons, Anna (Michael) Herrick, Weston Willyard, Macy Willyard, Robyn Willyard; step grandchildren, Korey Yoder, Nicholas Yoder, Nicole Bird, Lucia Bird, and Samantha Yoder; great grandchildren Emi and Makenna Willyard,and Emma Herrick; and step great grandchild, Noah Yoder.

Michelle was born and raised in Suffield, Ohio, worked as a secretary for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio after graduating from Suffield School in 1960, various department stores as a clerk and department manager, and as a secretary for the Summit County (Ohio) Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities for 17 years before moving to Farmville, Virginia. She and her second husband, Allen Yoder, operated Yoder’s Senior Care Home in Farmville, VA from 2010 to 2019.

Services will be conducted at the Maysville Baptist Church in Buckingham, Virginia on Wednesday May 28th at 12 pm, with visitation one hour prior.  Burial will follow in the Buckingham Community (Virginia) Cemetery.
