— The Afters
“Mary, you have cancer and 6 months to live.”
“Doctor, you don’t know my God!”
And, she was right. It’s been 10+ years since she heard those words. Never long enough, but so grateful for our God and our time with Mary.
Our sweet Mary left her earthly home on Thanksgiving Day and though we already feel the immense loss of her here on earth, we know there is vast celebration in heaven. Jesus took home his true disciple, his faithful servant. Even in her final hours, Mary’s sole focus continued to be on spending time with her family and her concern for saving unbelievers. She truly lived a ‘Christ centered life’ – one filled with a determination to save lost souls, to show love to everyone and to be an example to others.
Mary was remarkable – in the true sense of the word. To know Mary was to adore her. She fought cancer, many days in severe pain and discomfort, and yet, even on her bad days often spoke of ‘how good of a day it was.” Her strength, determination and will were unmatched. She was an inspiration – to her family, to her close friends and even strangers. There was no one like our Mary – she was one of a kind and we’ll miss her deeply and until we meet again.
Well done our sweet Mary. Watching you take your final breath as you entered the gates of heaven and describing the flowers as far as you can see and remarking that ‘it’s going to be a wonderful day’ brought indescribable peace. You were always encouraging and our biggest cheerleader. A life well lived. We will miss you tremendously but are so grateful that you’re free of pain and celebrating in heaven. Life won’t be the same without you - but we promise to take good care of your Bo-Bo and C.S. Thank you for the example you set and the legacy you left ~ we’ll do our best to live as you lived.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
We will forever love you,
Your Family
The Allen family would like to thank all their special friends who have been here for us through this very difficult time.
