Margaret Anne (Shepherd) Word

Margaret Anne Shepherd Word entered her eternal home on June 29, 2020.

She was born August 23, 1929 to the late Willie Joseph Shepherd and the late Margaret Kidd Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Floyd Neal Word. She was also preceded in death by her siblings William Joseph Shepherd and Bettie Pendleton Shepherd, her son-in-law Charles William Harvey and grandson Joel Linwood Harvey.

Margaret was a rural mail carrier for many years. She was an active member of Enon Baptist Church until the decline of her health prevented her from attending.

She loved her family and loved going places with her husband especially to see the grandchildren playing sports.

Margaret is survived by her sister Mamie Rose Shepherd Overby, her children Patricia Harvey, Joseph & Jane Word, Janice & Kenneth Green and Barbara & Richard Bersch, grandchildren Brian & Mandi Harvey, Thomas & Cristyl Word, Lisa Word, Kenneth & Shaena Green, Kristin & Craig DeVito, Karen & Michael Justice, Jennifer Green, Michael & Samantha Bersch and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on July 2, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, 9120 Andersonville Rd, Dillwyn, VA 23936. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Enon Baptist Church, c/o Judy Banton, Treas., 2019 Red Rd, Dillwyn, VA 23936.
