Katherine Cook Worrell, 84, of Dillwyn passed peacefully on November 29, 2021 in Charlottesville. She was born October 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Judson Vernon Cook and Nannie Cobb Cook. Katherine was the widow of James Franklin Worrell.
Katherine loved children. She was an in-home childcare provider for decades. She was known as Nannie, not only by her family but also by the many children she kept over the years. It was not unusual for her to be approached by an adult, and hear them call her “Nannie” and realize that she cared for them in prior years.
“Nannie” is survived by two daughters, Debbie Bersch and husband, David and Annette Henderson and husband, Gerry; four grandchildren, Katherine Craig (Bryan), Jennifer Martin (Leif), Bryan “Bo” Bersch (Amy) and Emily Bersch (Travis); seven great-grandchildren, Elaysa Knight, Orion Martin, Ian Martin, Grant Martin, Abby Martin, Riley Woodson and Clay Woodson.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the Dillwyn Town Cemetery.
