Judy Shelton Banton, 76, of Dillwyn, passed away peacefully in her home on August 27, 2024. She was born on December 11, 1948 in Prince Edward County to the late Bethel and Homer Shelton where they resided in Prospect. She was preceded in death by her love of her life, her husband, Wilber Banton; brothers, Henry and Jerry Shelton; Sister Dale McFadden and stepdaughter, Tammy Banton.
Judy graduated from Prince Edward Academy. She worked for Stackpole for 20 years, Buckingham County Health Department for 10 years and Buckingham correctional Center for a short time.
Judy enjoyed gardening, cross stitching, reading her Bible. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her church and her church family.
She is survived by her two stepsons, David Banton and Rick Banton (Jessica); grandchildren, Tammy Hoke (John), Darryl Wayne “D.J.” Banton Jr. (Nicole), Tyler Cole Banton, and Kenneth Wayne Banton; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Jackson and McKenzie Hoke and Esme Banton. She had numerous nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11 a.m. in Eon Baptist Church, Dillwyn, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to say “Thank you” to the special caregivers, Helen Hertzler, Jane Hershberger, Teresa Ashworth and Tianna Wade. Also, Dr. Christopher Hucks and the team from Amedisys Hospice.
