Judith Davis Obituary

Judith Seay Davis

August 15, 1936 – January 26, 2026

Judith Seay Davis, lovingly known as Judy, age 89, of Dillwyn, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born on August 15, 1936, in Fluvanna County, Virginia, Judy was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Seay and Margaret Ann Snead. From an early age, she carried a kind heart and gentle spirit that stayed with her throughout her life.

Judy shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Russell “Dick” Davis, until his passing in September 1999. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and love. Judy made a career in the food-service industry, managing multiple locations, including the Tasty Freeze, the Wagon Wheel and helping establish the family businesses, Jax Big Beef and Cactus Jax — accomplishments she was proud of, but always secondary to her devotion to her family.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dillwyn and found joy in gathering loved ones together. Judy loved being in the sunshine, spending time by the water, and hosting big family get-togethers where everyone felt welcome. Many will fondly remember that she was often the very first one on the dance floor, bringing laughter and light wherever she went.

Above all else, Judy was a sweet, loving woman whose greatest joy came from her family. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle presence touched everyone who knew her, and her legacy of love will live on through generations.

Those left to cherish Judy’s memory include her long-term partner, Bob; her sons, Frank, Bruce, and Billy; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Cody, and Brent; and her precious great-grandchild, Sadie Mae.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her sons, Seay and Carey; and her brother, William “Boy.”

Judy will be remembered for her gentle heart, her welcoming smile, and the deep love she had for her family. Though she will be greatly missed, her spirit will forever remain in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love that continues through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Heaven gained a beautiful soul, and her family finds comfort knowing she is at peace.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Josh Morgan, with a private interment at Dillwyn Cemetery.  Visitation will immediately follow the funeral service.

Memorial donations in Judy’s honor may be made to the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department.
