James Richardson, Jr. Obituary

James Blackwell Richardson, Jr., 81, of Bon Air, went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2023. He passed peacefully in sleep while surrounded by his family.  Jim was born in Toano and attended James Blair High School, Class of ‘59 and later graduated from Barton College with a B. S. in Accounting. He also served his country in the U. S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Blackwell Richardson, Sr., and Mary Louise Self Richardson and his brother, George Robert Richardson and brothers-in-law, Don Campbell and Lewis Wootton.

Survivors are his wife of nearly 50 years Alice Wootton Richardson; sons, James Lee Richardson and William Edwin Richardson; sister, Ann Denton and her husband, Bruce Denton; sister-in-law, Lynda Richardson; nieces, Kim, Sherry and Amy, and nephews, Jeff, Brad and Andrew; sisters-in-law, Lucy Campbell, Ann Wilkins, Mary Wootton, Ellen Wootton; brothers-in-law, Warren Wootton and Earl Wootton, and numerous other family and friends.

Jim was an honorable accountant for Miller and Rhoads, Woodfin Oil, Wachovia Securities, and Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Graveside funeral will be held January 6, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Enon Baptist Church cemetery in Dillwyn.

To honor his memory, donate to the scholarship fund at James Blair High School, Barton College, Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, Oak Grove Baptist Church or Enon Baptist Church.
