James Landon Branch of Buckingham went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2024. James was born on
July 31, 1938 in Buckingham County. He was the son of Willie L. Branch and Annie Taylor Branch. He
was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Stella Christine Branch, Leslie Branch Ragland, Lucille
Branch Wiseman and Brenda Branch Ragland, his brothers; George Roosevelt Branch and Willie L
Branch, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Elizabeth Bryant Branch, a son, James L Branch, Jr
(Debra), three daughters; Tammy B. Huddleston (Tony), Deborah B. Herndon (David), and Janet M. Rose
(Pete); 10 grandchildren; Christopher Hucks, Anthony Hucks, Kalya Jamerson, Landon Branch, Toni
Mitchell, Meghan Allen, Melissa Herndon, Cody Herndon, Brandon Ragland and Brian Ragland; and 17
great grandchildren, a brother John R Branch (Gail), and three sisters, Nannie Mae Moyer, Georgie (Cat)
Cash, and Rebecca (Becky) Gibson (Phil), a special sister-in-law, Joyce B. Branch and a special niece,
Randi Branch.
James was a member of Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was retired from C & O Railroad. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
A celebration of James’ life will be held on Thursday, January 18th at 11:00am at Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in
Wingina with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8pm on Wednesday, January 17 th at Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn.
