It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Hettie Phillips Amos on April 26, 2024. She passed peacefully to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loving family in her home. Throughout her 86 years she was the moral compass that guided us and built the foundation on which we stand through her abundant love. She was unwavering in her faith and commitment to family and her church, Bethel United Methodist in Andersonville.
Hettie was a strong-willed woman with a uniquely wonderful personality. She had many hobbies and enjoyed fishing, road trips with her family, bird watching, and a love of reading which she passed on to her children. She was also gifted with quilting, crochet, and embroidery. Her quilts and Christmas ornaments live on with family and friends. She delighted in bringing happiness and found great joy in keeping candy and ice cream for the children.
Hettie was preceded in death by her husband Stuart B. Amos, sons Hal Steve Cagle and Charles Eugene Cagle, sisters Betty Chandler and Berta Sue Phillips. She is survived by her three children, Sharon Smith (Thomas “Smitty”), Annette Silvers, and Ricky Amos (Dawn), twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Lawrence Phillips, sister, Brenda Casey (late Stanley) and several nieces and nephews.
A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON JUNE 8, 2024 AT 1:30 P.M. IN THE AMOS FAMILY CEMETERY 2506 ROCK MILL ROAD, DILLWYN FOLLOWED BY A TIME OF FELLOWSHIP AT HETTIE'S HOME, 104 GEISEKE ROAD, DILLWYN.
