Hazel Midkiff Short

Hazel Midkiff Short, passed away peacefully Wednesday January 22,2025 at Heritage Hall Nursing Facility Dillwyn. She was born June 14,1944 in Buckingham County, a daughter to the late Walter Lee Midkiff and Grace Midkiff Beatty. Hazel was also preceded in death by two brothers Samuel Gordon and Clyde Lee Midkiff.
Hazel worked her younger years helping her uncles and her daddy in tobacco. She then went on to work in Farmville at the Shoe Factory, Uniroyal and finally Holly Manor Nursing Facility as a aide.
She is survived by a brother Roy Midkiff and his wife Jeraldine of Pilot Mt. N C. And two nieces and their families all of NC.
Two daughters Fonda Smith and her husband Bobby, and Ginger Guthrie all of Dillwyn. Also four grandchildren and three great grandchildren all of Va.
Rest easy Mama, your hard earthly journey is over. We love you.
Also much gratitude, love, appreciation and prayers to all the staff members at Dillwyn Heritage Hall Nursing Facility.
And a much love, thank you's, support and prayers to family and friends for mama, Ginger and myself on this long hard journey.  Memorial service will be held at a later date.
