Gordon David Rush

Gordon David Rush left this life for a better life on June 5, 2019.  He was born January 29, 1937 in Buckingham County and remained a life-long resident of the county. Gordon was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Bessie Self Rush.

Gordon was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation but farming was his first love.  He was a lifelong member of Sharon Baptist Church and a charter member of Glenmore Fire Department.

Gordon leaves behind his daughters, Hilda and husband, Mark Knick and JoAnn and husband, Shannon Newton; granddaughter, Holly and husband, Matthew Vais and their children Jacob, Abigail, Nethanel, Lydia, Enoch and Matteo; and three sisters, Lucille Jamerson, Mary Palmore and Carolyn Jamerson.

In addition to his wife, Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Rolfe and Lillian Rush; siblings, Charles, Lacy, Hazel and James.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Sharon Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
