Freddie Tyson Obituary

Freddie Tyson, 78, lifelong resident of Columbia, crossed over Jordan Thursday March 26, 2020, at home with family by his side. 

          Freddie was born on April 20, 1941 in Columbia. He was a self-educated man with many skills. He was a self-made businessman since 1959, owning Tyson's Plumbing & Heating and Cumberland Powhatan Septic Service.

          Freddie is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Mary T. Tyson; his two sons Donald Ray (Maggie), and Barry Lynn (Donna); four grandsons, Dillon Lynn (Madi), Brandon Ray (Cassie), Cody Lynn (Meghan), and Joshua Dale, two great-grandsons Dustin Blake and Easton Lee; four brothers, Buster, Robert, Wilbur, and Jerry; one sister Joanne Harlow; many nieces, nephews, cousins (especially Gayle) and friends.

          He was preceded in death by a son, Carroll Lee, parents,  Fred and Dorothy, brother, Ronald, and nephew, Ryan Harlow.

          Freddie was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and collector of Indian artifacts. He had a love of bluegrass music. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Due to recent events, no service will be held at this time.
