Franklin Delano Wood, Sr.

Franklin Delano Wood, Sr., 79, of New Canton, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 25, 2023.  He was born October 28, 1944 in Buckingham County, a son of the late John Daniel and Annie Warsing Wood. 

Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Betty C. Wood; his sons, Franklin D. Wood, Jr. Michael D. Wood and his wife Angie, Bruce A. Wood; daughter in law, Melissa Wood; stepchildren, Gary Pollard, Sherry Pepper, Penny C. Lewis and her husband, Randy; Tammy Bailey and her husband, Mike, Shane Cordell and his wife, Anna; grandchildren, Madison Wood, Dylan Wood, Brandon Wood, Stephanie Ragland, Summer Lynn Hull, Cody Allen Wood, Robin Wood, Austin Thurman, Zak Bailey, Ben Bailey, Dustin Cordell, Layland Cordell, and Tobin Cordell; great-grandchildren, Isabella Wood, Emma Mayo, Mattie Ragland, Tripp Ragland, Layne Cox, Weston Wood,  and Wayne Wood.

In addition to his parents, Franklin was also preceded in death by his son, Wayne E. Wood.

Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 12 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Buckingham Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
