Floyd Gordon Ripley, 96 of Buckingham, Va passed peacefully on September 2, 2024. He was born on January 25,1928 in Buckingham to Floyd N. And Mamie Guill Ripley.
Gordon is survived by his children, Gordon N. Ripley(Ann) and Roma R. Morris(Larry) all of Buckingham. His grandchildren include Ashley Ripley, Victoria Harris (Steven) , Libby Bowman (Daniel). He also has three great grandchildren, Jackson Harris, Teghan Harris and Brinkley Bowman.
Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Nathalie A Ripley on June 4, 2024. He was also predeceased by his six siblings including, Gladys Baker, Claudine Harris, Mary Chappell, George Ripley, Shirley Seay and Mildred Coates.
Gordon was a life long member of Trinity Methodist Church in Buckingham where he was Superintendent of Sunday School for many years.
Gordon graduated from Buckingham County High School and soon thereafter drafted in the army and served in the First Armored Division in Germany. He was proud of his service and his travel during this period.
When returning home from Germany, Gordon married and took over the family farm where he made a living for his family. Many fond memories were made on the farm as children and was a gathering place for extended family and friends. A strong work ethic was instilled in his children. There was always a thought that everyone had a talent and able to contribute.
Gordon also served on numerous farm committees and enjoyed this service.
A public viewing will be held at Dunkum Funeral Home September 5,2024 from 10:00-4:00pm. A graveside funeral will be held at Trinity Methodist Church in Buckingham Courthouse on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11:00 am.
