Everett Nicholas (Nick) Smith

Everett Nicholas Smith, 87, of Buckingham, passed peacefully at his home on December 3, 2024. Nick was born May 15, 1937 in Buckingham County to the late Eugene and Myrtle Smith.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Mary Lillian Smith.

Nick was a heavy equipment operator and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.  He liked to stay busy, visiting family and friends, eating anything containing macaroni and/or tomatoes, and most of all fishing.

Nick is survived by his daughter, Heather Finley; grandson, Jason Rose; granddaughter, Samantha Mertus; step-daughter, Betty Wallace; brother, Billy Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Nick was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Branch; his sister, Shirley and six brothers, Jessie, Paul, Irving, James, Jr., Luther, Lester and Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in the Buckingham Community Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
