Evelyn Whaley Hardiman

Evelyn Whaley Hardiman, 97, of Dillwyn, passed October 24, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on July 11, 1928 in Sevierville, Tennessee.  She moved with her family to Virginia in early 1947 and a short time later met and married Lindbergh on August 16, 1947. They were married for 77 years before his passing last year.

Evelyn is survived by her  three wonderful daughters, Linda H. Meador, Sandra H. Witt (Jerry), and Della H. Wickizer; three grandchildren, Shannon Meador, Mandy Wickizer, and Aaron Wickizer (Heather); three great-grandchildren, Austin Wickizer, Wyatt Wickizer, and Sophie Gray.; sister, Sue Mundy (Peter), and Irvin Poe, a special family friend who has been of tremendous help and support to the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Whaley and Sally Rosala Whaley; son-in-law, Tony Wickizer and nine siblings.  

Evelyn was a member of Cedar Baptist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She loved and was loved by her church family.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 5 p.m. at Cedar Baptist Church.  Family will receive friends prior to the service. beginning at 4 p.m.

Interment will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the Cedar Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Baptist Church.
