Edward “Ed” Gordon Songer Sr., 76, of Scottsville, passed away, Thursday, August 8, 2024.
Ed was born August 30, 1947, in Staunton, Virginia, a son of the late George Gordon Songer and Katherine Frenger Songer. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Joanne Steger Songer, brother, Wayne Songer, children, Edward “Gordon” Songer Jr., Christy Songer, Tracie Steger and Wendy Oliver (Douglas). Grandchildren, Nikkia, Mannie, Shaun, Tamara, Kennedy, and Sydney Oliver, his “Boo-Boo”. Along with his beloved four-legged son Banjo. He was preceded in death by sisters Georgie Ashley and Nancy Kingrea.
Ed worked at Shell Oil Company for 30 years until he retired. After his retirement he was a co-owner of Midway Market in Buckingham for eight years. Ed enjoyed spending time at his second home, Buggs Island Lake, where he captained a pontoon boat and hosted his friends and family. He was loving called “Pop” by his children, Wendy (Doug) and Tracie, and his granddaughter Sydney.
A celebration of life will be held at Glenmore Volunteer Fire House, 179 Firehouse Road, Buckingham, VA, 23921, on Sunday, August, 11, 2024, from 5:00-6:30 P.M.
