Earnest Junior “Slim” Christian, 92, of New Canton, passed into his eternal home on October 26, 2025. Slim was born July 5, 1933, a son of the late Earnest Travis and Martha Bryant Christian. Slim married his wife, Marie C. Christian in 1957 and she went to meet Jesus on December 7, 2004.
Slim was part owner of G. N. Christian and Sons construction for 60 plus years. He loved fox hunting and was a longtime member of Hard Luck Hunt Club. He loved to hunt and fish. He was an active member of Arvonia Church for over 65 years. He held many positions in the church. He filled in for pastors in many pulpits in Buckingham County as a lay speaker.
Slim is survived by his children, Diana C. Dunkum, Jeffrey W. Christian, and Candie Flippen (Kevin). He is survived by nine grandsons, Kristopher Dunkum (Sherry), Chip Dunkum (Amanda), Tyler Christian, Jeffrey Christian, Noah Christian, Samuel Christian, Travis Christian, Todd Flippen (Bradee), Andrew Flippen (Hannah). Also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Cindy Tindall (Daquan), Cali Dunkum, Ace Dunkum, Mya Dunkum, Emaree Dunkum, Hunter Christian, Wrenley Dunkum, Mattox Flippen. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Randy Christian (Gail), who was more like a son to him. Also by his sister-in-law, Linda Christian. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Christian (Peggy), and brother in law, Gene Clark. Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his devoted friend and companion Jean T. Chenault.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law. Norman Dwight Christian, his business partner and best friend. Also preceded by his brother, John Ed Christian and his wife, Ann, also his sister Martha C. Clark.
