David William Sloan
June 27, 1951 – February 2, 2025
David William Sloan, 73, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully in his home on the night of February 2, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Mimi Sutton Sloan, his three daughters, whom he adored, Whitney Sloan Graham (James), Katherine Sloan (David), and Angela Sloan, his dear sister, Sheila McLeod and his three precious grandsons, Jackson, Samuel and Hayes. David served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War; he was a member of the Cumberland Co. Volunteer Fire Dept. for 30 years, serving as fire chief for much of that time. He made his living as a poultry and cattle farmer, working the land where he was born and raised.
The family will receive visitors at Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 5-7pm; funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2pm at Salem UMC in Cumberland.
