On January 21, 2026, after a very brief and unexpected illness, Shot LeSueur entered the gates
of Heaven with his family surrounding his bedside.
Daniel Edward LeSueur (better known as Shot) was born November 4, 1940, along with his
twin sister Dainy. They were born at their Buckingham home to parents John Daniel and Beulah
Thomas LeSueur. In addition to Dainy, there was one other sibling, Alvin. Shot was preceded in
death by his parents and siblings.
After 63 years of marriage, Betty Jo Ownby LeSueur will cherish many memories of Shot.
Together in their Christian home, Shot and Betty Jo raised two sons Danny (Becky) and Johnny
(Kristi). But the pride of Shot’s world was his grandchildren: Danielle (Scott), Emily (Anthony),
Claire, Daniel, Aiden, Jenna, and Wyatt. His sweet great-granddaughter, Willow Faye, brought
the biggest smiles.
Also surviving Shot are his special sisters-in-law, Gladys, Dotty, Frankie, Patsy; the mother
of three of his granddaughters, Kim. His sister-in-law Linda preceded him in death.
Shot was a faithful, kindhearted, and man of God. His love for Hatcher Baptist Church
shone through with each grass cutting or with everything he fixed. Shot loved working outdoors,
producing a yearly garden that could feed an army. His love for automobiles led him to a career
as an auto body man at Moon’s Body Shop. Later in life he still worked on autos at home.
All services will be held at Hatcher Baptist Church on Saturday January 24, 2026.
Family Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with a celebration of life beginning at 11 a.m.
Due to the impending winter storm, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations in Shot’s
memory be made to the Hatcher Baptist Church Missions Fund. This fund is used to support
various missionaries sponsored by the church members and all donations go directly to the missionary families.
