Dallas Jent passed early in the morning on May 14, 2026, exactly one week after turning 86. He
was born to the late David and Pearl Conley Jent in the spring of 1940. Dallas went to meet the
Lord, and rejoice with so many loved ones in Heaven! He is a man of great faith and love. Which
he demonstrated throughout his life with his love of Christ, family, and friends. He grew up on a
farm in Putnam County, Indiana, with his five brothers and sisters, with whom he remained close
with until their deaths. He graduated from Cloverdale High School in Cloverdale, Indiana.
His work had him moving states every 2-3 years, with Treva and Rebecca by his side. During his
work life with Morrison Knudsen, they lived in Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico,
Pennsylvania, Virginia (Built Buckingham Correctional Center and Nottoway Correctional
Center), Connecticut, Key West, Missouri, and Maine. When he retired in 2004, he was
considered the world’s foremost prison builder. Ultimately retiring in Buckingham County.
He enjoyed music most of all, as music was a huge part of his life! Dallas was a very talented
man who played guitar and sang lead in many Country Western Bands in the 70s/early 80s. He
enjoyed playing at Church, get togethers…..anywhere.
When his wife, Treva, died in 2009, heartbreak hit, as they had been married for 42 years. He
saved her life by donating his kidney to her in 2002.
He found great companionship and comfort when he married his last love, Shirley Atkins Jent, in
October of 2012. They shared a wonderful 14 years together.
Dallas’ memories live on by many loved ones, including his daughter Rebecca Ann Wood
(Lacy) and granddaughter Treva Rose Wood; sons, Brian Jent (Jody), David Jent (Vicki), and
Larry Jent; nephew Mike Baker (Cindy); and numerous grandchildren. Along with his wife,
Shirley Jent; stepdaughters Tammie (Norman) and Debbie (Larry); as well as three grandchildren
and many great grandchildren.
Dallas was preceded in death by his wife, Treva Ann Jent; Sons, Marion Jent and Bradley Jent;
Mother, Pearl Conley Jent and Father, David Eustice Jent; Sisters, Edrice Baker, Eunice Ash,
and Thelma Thomas; Brothers, David Jent Jr. and Denver Jent.
