Carl Warren Huskey, 69, of Spotsylvania passed peacefully in his sleep on July 9, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 18, 1956, in Dillwyn, VA, the only child of the late Carl and Christine Huskey.
He retired from VDOT after 43 years; starting as a mechanic and working his way up to District Equipment Manager for both Culpeper and Fredericksburg before finishing his tenure with VDOT as Fleet Management Program Manager in Richmond Virginia. Carl enjoyed riding his motorcycle with the Southern Cruisers, tinkering with cars, and spending time in the outdoors with his grandchildren. Carl was a prolific baker, much to the joy of his friends and family who were the recipients of his cinnamon and dinner rolls and sourdough bread.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia A. Huskey; his daughters, Melissa A. Buckley and her husband JJ, and Terri A. Huskey, his grandchildren, Britni Garrett, Mackenzie and Jack Buckley and much extended family from Tennessee and Virginia.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Jones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Cumberland Virginia. The family welcomes your presence at the service. In addition, there will be a Celebration of Life on September 12, 2026 at location to be determined.
