Calvin Oakley Branch

Calvin Oakley Branch 82, of Buckingham went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

          He was born on January 27, 1942, in Buckingham County, a son of the late Thomas Oakley and Mary Pauline (Taylor) Branch. 

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Earnest Branch and sister Temple Taylor.

     Calvin retired from UVA Material Management after 31 years of service.  He was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church in Buckingham. Calvin was a devoted husband, loving father, and a cherished friend to all who knew him.  To know him was to love him and he had the gift of being able to put a smile on your face.  One of his biggest loves was his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

     Survivors include his loving wife: Madeline Branch; two children: Cheryl Turner (David), Mike Branch (Patti) one brother Acie Branch; two grandchildren: Lane and Hunter Branch and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall-Dillwyn for their kindness and taking care of Calvin in his final days.    

 A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Woodland Church by Pastors Billy Swann and Donald Collins. 

     The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday evening, October 25th at Dunkum’s funeral home in Dillwyn,VA.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Hall Resident Aid Fund, 119 Brickyard Drive, Dillwyn, VA  23936.
