Annie Mae Dunevant Obituary

Annie Mae Giles Dunevant, age 92, peacefully departed this life on February 3, 2026.  Annie Mae was born on July 11, 1933, in Buena Vista, Virginia, to the late Edward M. and Della Drain Giles.  Blessed with 13 siblings, Annie Mae is preceded in death by Willie, Edward, Kenny, Mary, Margaret, Frances (Tootie), Paul, Betty Lou, James, and an infant baby girl.  Her surviving siblings are Fred, Doris, and Jack.  In 2024, along with her surviving siblings, Annie Mae became a member of the Monacan Indian Tribe.  Their parents were ancestors of this Tribe.

Married to Richard Muriel Dunevant on December 23rd, 1950, Annie Mae and Muriel celebrated 61 years of marriage before he died in 2011.  In 2013, Annie Mae was blessed to marry Judson Shows and enjoy life together until he died in 2019.

After a lifetime of motherhood, home cooking, and Love, Annie Mae’s memory will be cherished by her children, Trisha (Bill), Billy (Rose), Bruce (Kay), and Nancy (Doug): three stepchildren, Paul, Kay & Holly.  There are four surviving grandchildren: Elizabeth, Becky, Matthew, and Lori.  10 great-grandchildren: Lillian, Hannah, Avery, Noah, Jenna, Wyatt, Carter, Presley, Fastlyn, and Coleman.  one great great-grandson Kanin.  Also surviving Annie Mae are several sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews from both the Dunevant and Giles families.

Preceding Annie Mae in death are her eldest son, Roger, daughter-in-law Joanna, and great-granddaughter, Calvary Faith.

During the last few years of her life, Annie Mae was Blessed to be surrounded by her extended Giles family.  Her siblings, along with her nieces and nephews, were a vital part of her daily life.  Everlasting memories were made during their many visits.  The immediate family is so very thankful for the Love and support given not only to Annie Mae but to the entire family.

Many thanks go out to the entire staff of Heritage Hall Dillwyn for the Love, compassion, and comfort they offered so freely to Annie Mae during her last days.

All services will be held at Enon Baptist Church, 9120 Andersonville Road, Dillwyn, Virginia, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. A luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following.
