Annette Gage Obituary

Annette “Annie” Pearl Gage, 14, of Buckingham, went to be with Jesus peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, February 9, 2020.  Annie was born on December 31, 2005, the granddaughter to her devoted and loving grandmother, Ruby Shepherd Massie; brother, Troy Edward Gage, Jr. of Chesapeake; devoted and loving aunt, Casey “Aunie” Nichole Jones (Fred) of Williamsburg; and her step-grandfather, Sam Massie of Gloucester.

She was preceded in death by her father Troy Edward Gage, Sr.

Much love to two of her cousins, Leanne and Rebecca Ragland, for making life fun for Annie, She leaves behind a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Annie loved the color purple, cats, dogs, horses, and her Aunie.  One of her talents was that she never forgot a face and had a contagious smile that made anyone smile back. Grandma and family kept Annie actively involved in church, school and her community,  Coming from Gloucester, where she was involved in the STARS program with Coach john Coates, to  making herpresence known in Buckingham with those bright eyes and big SMILE!  She had lots of firsts like: being a part of Heartland Horse Heroes with LaRue Sprouse-Dowd; going to football, volleyball and basketball games; tennis matches; attending her first play at BCHS to see “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”; visiting state parks; riding the Christmas train a couple of times; vacationing in the Tennessee mountains, Virginia Beach, and Nags Head several times with family and friends.  Annie became a member of Woodland United Methodist Church and was baptized in 2017 by per Pastor George Schaefer.

The family wants to express their gratitude to a few more people who played pivotal part in Annie’s life, John and Gail Branch, close friends, Savannah Lightner, aide; Cindy Davis; Hannah Vaughan, 5th grade teacher; Meredith Powell, middle school teacher, UVA Doctors, Nurses and Staff, especially Joy Miller, NP Pediatric Palliative Care; Howard Goodkin, M.D. Pediatric Neurology; his assistant Brooke Henry, RN Care Coordinator; and Legacy Hospice. Thanks to everyone in the community, schools, Sandra Logan and the Buckingham Sheriff’s Department for the gifts, prayers and hundreds of cards….Annie loved them all. A special thank you for all the staff at the Buckingham Middle School for always being there for Annie.

Family will received friends from 6 until 7 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 7 p.m. on  Tuesday, February 11, 2020__at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.  Pastor George Schaefer will officiate.
