Ailene Wood Snoddy
Obituary
Ailene Wood Snoddy passed away peacefully April 24, 2023. She was born October 24, 1930 to the late James Milton Wood and Anna Hudgins Wood, and was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Melvin Snoddy.
She is survived by her four children, Hank (Bonnie) Snoddy, David (Danita) Snoddy, Joan (Todd) Shumaker, Lisa (G.R.) Melton; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Ailene was active in the community and an active member of Buckingham Baptist Church for 78 years. She retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990 and throughout her life served the community caring for the needs of others. She was lovingly referred to by most as “Mema”.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Buckingham Baptist Church, C/O Hill & Davis Accounting, 14303 S. James Madison Hwy, Dillwyn VA 23936,.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. in the Buckingham Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Buckingham Baptist Church.
