Shirley Toney Childress, 84, of New Canton, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Carrie Toney, her husband, Joseph Albert “Boots” Childress and two sons, Abner and Jimmy Childress.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Huddleston and her husband, Jimmy, who cared for Shirley as though she was his own mother; two sons, Milton Childress and his wife, Brenda and Dennis Childress; daughter-in-law, Margie Childress; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Welcome Wesleyan Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at Arvon Baptist Church, New Canton.
