Rachel Banton Snead, 85, of Dillwyn, was called home on June 11, 2017.  She was born December 9, 1931 in Buckingham County on the family farm and lived most of her life on the property.  She is the daughter of the late Wiley and Bertha Lenora Banton.  Rachel dearly loved the land that her father purchased in the 1920s.  She loved Jesus, her family, and was a partner with Oral Roberts Ministries.  Rachel served the community as a beautician and a Lay Pastor for the Methodist Church.  She was the wife of the late Stanley Marvin Snead.      

Rachel is survived by her children, June Green Scott and Connie Green Yancey of Dillwyn, and Robin Snead Guiler of Cincinnati; her sister, Mary Humphrey of Richmond; her brother, Wilber Banton of Dillwyn; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was also preceded in death by her brother, Thurman Banton of Suffolk, Virginia. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in the Banton Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.  Dunkum Funeral Home is serving the family.
