Melody Ann Sperling
November 23, 1964 ~ July 13, 2017 (age 52) 52 Years OldMelody Ann Sperling, 52, of Dillwyn, joined her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2017. She was born November 23, 1964 in Bristol, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Walter and Betty Sperling.
Melody was a 1983 graduate of Highland High School in Blackwood, New Jersey. Following graduation Melody pursued her education in biblical studies at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Falls, Georgia and Langhorne Bible Institute in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. She enrolled in a public speaking course at the Camden County Community College in Blackwood which she enjoyed immensely; she felt so comfortable there because she was treated as an equal.
Melody found her life calling as an EMT and gained the certifications necessary to maintain the expertise needed to provide excellent care to her patients. She gained numerous certifications, including EMT, Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Prehospital Trauma Life Support. After moving to Dillwyn, she used her skills by becoming a volunteer with the Buckingham County Rescue Squad.
Melody was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Dillwyn. She belonged to the Foundations Sunday School class and lent her beautiful voice to the Adult Choir. She participated in many church activities including visitations, cantatas and children’s programs.
In addition to her parents, Melody is also survived by a brother, Walter E. Sperling, Jr., of Hamden, Connecticut; other relatives, friends and her fur babies, that she loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Dillwyn.
