John Allen Mitchell, 64, of Arvonia died August 13, 2016.  He was the born May 10, 1952 in Richmond, a son of the late Harold Frances and Lillian Belle Toney Mitchell.  He was a retired Superintendent for the Virginia Department of Transportation. 

He is survived by his wife, Bambi Talbott Mitchell; four sons, Travis, Mason, Matt and Thomas Mitchell; sister, Gloria Stout; brother, Harold Mitchell Jr. and three grandchildren, Gwyneth, Harrison and Elizabeth.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Nichols.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Arvon Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
